UwU stems from early 2000s internet fandom culture and is an ASCII “emoticon” and sometimes “kaomoji” representation of a cute cat or other animal face with eyes shut. See also: OwO.

What kind of work do you do?
#

We are working on plans and proofs-of-concept for several project ideas at the moment, starting with some Modular Synthesis-related items. More to come on that front later…

In the meantime we are open to consulting, contract work and, for some of us, perhaps even employment opportunities. We’re still working on a page to show our offerings and capabilities which will be linked here soon!

Are you serious?
#

We are serious about the work we do; this is our craft and livelihood. We love to learn, love to see projects take shape, and love to see our work come to fruition.

Being serious about the work doesn’t mean we think we need to be stuffy about the process or the interactions along the way.

#

What is your stance on AI?
#

We do occasionally make use of Generative AI / Large Language Model technology. However, we will disclose when any of our content substantively makes use of that technology for things beyond basic suggestions and an editing pass.

We try to avoid use of GenAI/LLM for reasons including but not limited to the following:

  • GenAI/LLM models are built on the backs of countless artists, musicians, writers, academics, and software developers who were not compensated fairly or at all for their contributions.
  • Particularly the training and mass usage of Large Language Models consumes a huge amount of power and we believe it has a significant impact on the environment at present. We like the planet and would prefer to keep living on it.
  • We love our craft; creating things is fun. Why would we want to put the things we take pleasure in in the hands of machines?
  • We love people! People generate original thoughts and outputs and are worth paying fairly for those efforts.

Practically speaking, some of us have tried working with LLMs in programming efforts (including Agentic workflows with custom MCPs and tailored agent prompts) and generally found it to be more frustrating than it’s worth.
